The Apple Pan – Old school hamburger joint; the grill, the counter and the waiters.  Some of the best burgers in the Southland.  They also have great fries and pies. Open late as well.

The Apple Pan

CaCao Mexicatessen – Fancy, but tasty gourmet tacos and Mexican food in Eagle Rock.  Duck Confit tacos are supreme.

Cacao Mexicatessen

Griddle Cafe – Fred Flintstone sized portions pancakes. Go early (and hungry),  especially on weekends.

Jitlada  Hands down,  best Thai food on the West Coast.

Philippe’s – Home of the french dipped sandwich – pork, lamb, beef, turkey. Buy a jar of their hot spicy mustard and have your sandwich with some potato salad.

Philippe’s

Soot Bull Jeep – Inexpensive Korean, where you cook your own meat/seafood. Tons of side dishes, which they’ll keep bringing if you ask.

Tacos Por Favor – my favorite sit down, authentic Mexican restaurant, located in Santa Monica.  Great Al Pastor, Pozole and amazing green salsa.
