Recently reopened at its new Williamsburg location, Pies ‘n’ Thighs, in my opinion, has the best fried chicken in the 5 Boroughs.

The menu consists of southern favorites and flavors, but the signature items hands down, is their Fried Chicken and homemade dessert pies.

The Fried Chicken Bucket is my regular go to choice – filling, delicious and satisfying. You get 2 or 3 pieces of perfectly crispy moist fried chicken, a gigantic flaky biscuit, and choice of a side.  Side dishes include classic Southern style mac and cheese, hush puppies, spicy black eyed peas, creamed spinach, baked beans, collards, grits and coleslaw. I usually order the mac and cheese or the collards, which are cooked with tender pulled pork.

Other tasty menu items worthy of ordering include their Carolina Style Pulled Pork Bun and for your non-meat eating dining companions, there is a Fried Catfish Box or the “Superbowl” which consist of a choice of 3 sides and a biscuit.

No meal at Pies ‘n’ Thighs would be complete without sampling a slice or two of their daily homemade pies. There is usually a variety of 5-7 types, which often includes Apple, Key Lime and Chocolate Puddin’. My favorites and probably the most popular are their Banana Creamand Rhubarb.

The Banana Cream oozes Banana Pudding goodness with Nilla Wafers, whipped cream and a Graham Cracker crust. The flavors and ingredients melt together into one delicious dreamy bite.

The Rhubarb at Pies ‘n’ Thighs is filled with chunks of Rhubarb and doesn’t contain any jam or filling like you’d often find at other places.

Pies ‘n’ Thighs is open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner and for brunch on the weekends. They are closed daily from 4-5 pm and only accept cash.
